Hope

Storms of circumstances
waves of “if” and “then”
unrelenting in their promise,
that tomorrow is my end.

If anchored in the sands
of things that I now see,
my life will surely blow off course,
wreck, and sink beneath the sea.

Yet God shows His hand now present
and gives me eyes to see,
that despite the fury of the storm,
He is right here next to me.

Jesus is there in the future
just past the veil of time,
this Hope the anchor of the soul
the strength I seek to find.

Endurance for the race
doesn’t grow on glassy seas,
the discipline of storms
is what forms this gift in me.
By fixing firm my eyes
on Him Who endured the shame,
of laying down His life for me,
so that I might do the same.
Hebrews 6:19 Hebrew 12:1-3
