Babel’s Folly

With feet planted firmly

on a perilous spire,

the children of men

would strive to go higher,

by questing for answers

whose origin stem

from a misguided helmsman,

the science of men.

True He has made wings

with which to fly,

but they limit us still

to the realms of the sky,

and focus our eyes

on intellect’s lie

that on our own strength and effort

we’ll surely get by.

Yet with what we are “given,”

try as we may

to the “giver” of all

we can never repay

one single moment

we recklessly spoil

through efforts of climbing

our towers of soil.
